EUROPEAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES SEEK YOUR VIEWS

The Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership appointed Comhairle nan Eilean Siar as the local lead partner to develop the Outer Hebrides 2014-2020 LEADER and European Marine and Fisheries Fund Axis 4 (EMFF) Local Development Strategy and programmes.  Subsequently Hall Aitken were appointed to assist in its production and undertake a series of community consultation workshops which took place in Lewis, Harris, Benbecula, South Uist and Barra in February and March 2014 to ascertain the views, and the needs and wants of local communities and groups and the outcome of these form the basis of the new strategy.  An early draft of the strategy was submitted to the Scottish Government for initial review and positive feedback was received.

Communities and stakeholders views are now being sought again to ensure that all were caught and that the draft Outer Hebrides 2014-2020 LEADER and EMFF Axis 4 Local Development Strategy reflects community’s needs.  Please visit www.outerhebridesleader.co.uk to access, read and review a DRAFT copy of the strategy document.

The final copy of the strategy requires to be submitted to the Scottish Government in September 2014 for assessment by an external panel who will determine the funding allocation that the Outer Hebrides will be awarded to enable both local programmes to be delivered. This local development strategy document will dictate what can and cannot be supported by the new local LEADER and EMFF Axis 4 programmes and consequently input from communities and stakeholders at this stage are essential.

Please email any comments on the strategy to the Kathlene Macdonald, Outer Hebrides LEADER Co-ordinator at [email protected] by Monday 14th July 2014.
