Speaking about Carers Week, Highlands & Islands (Labour)MSP, Rhoda Grant, said “Carers Week offers the opportunity to highlight and to commend the commitment of carers and to raise public awareness of their work and its impact on them.
“Every day across the Highlands and Islands thousands of dedicated people provide care for the needs of someone who is ill, infirmed or disabled.
“It is essential that every effort is made in supporting the needs of these carers to carry on the work that they carry out.
“ Carers make an enormous contribution to society financially, saving public services an estimated £10 billion a year.”
