Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, has been in contact with GB Oils regarding the fuel-supply situation which has developed in the Southern Isles
Alasdair Allan commented:
“GB Oils have confirmed the circumstances which led to the fuel supply difficulties currently being experienced in the Uists, and outlined the contingency plan in place – a plan which they are confident will enable them to maintain sufficient stocks on these islands while repairs at the South Uist Terminal are carried out.
“Tankering by road and ferry was claimed to have been frustrated by low tides in recent days, but the tidal conditions will ease over the weekend in any case. That said, I will continue to liaise with GB Oils to ensure the situation is closely monitored and that alternative options and routes are considered if the situation requires.”
